Creating an Account to Connect with a Halper: If you are a Student, in order to connect with a Halper, you will be required to create an account. During the account creation process, we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, current grade, high school name, geographic location, your universities, programs, and other topics of interest, and your parent’s email address (if preferred). We use this information to create and administer your account and match you with Halpers at universities and in programs that you are interested in. We strongly recommend that you do not disclose your password to anyone. We will never ask you for your password in any unsolicited communication (such as letters, phone calls or email messages). If you become aware of any unauthorized access to or use of your account, you are required to notify us immediately.
Becoming a Halper: If you sign-up to become a Halper, you will be required to complete an online form on our Website. Through this form, we collect your first and last name, university name, program(s) of study, email address, phone number, and reasons for becoming a Halper. If your application to become a Halper is selected, you will be invited to participate in a Halp team member interview in order to help us assess your suitability to become a Halper. If you are accepted to become a Halper after the interview process, you will then be required to create a personal profile to be listed on our Website. This profile provides Students and other users of the Website with information such as your hometown, university, year and program of study, financial aid experience, and other interests to enable them to decide whether they would like to set up a Halp Chat with you.
Purchasing a Halp Membership: If you decide to obtain a Halp membership in order to purchase Halp Chats with a selection of Halpers, we will collect your (or your parent’s) payment card or Paypal-related information (including billing address, credit card number, expiry data and CVV code). After purchasing a membership, you will receive a certain number of credits depending on the Halp membership tier you sign up for, which can be used to sign up for Halp Chats with Halpers of your choice.
Referrals: Our Website may permit you to tell others about Halp. This feature requires you to submit your name and email address, as well as the name and email address of the recipient. We do not use the names or email addresses submitted in these circumstances for any other purpose without the consent of you or the email recipient to do so. Please ensure that you only submit email addresses of individuals with whom you have a business, personal or family relationship.
Marketing and Other Communications: You may sign-up to receive email marketing communications from us containing special offers and the latest Halp updates by providing us with your name and email address. You may also sign-up to receive our blog posts by email. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link included at the bottom of each email. Alternatively, you can opt-out of receiving email marketing communications by contacting us at the contact information provided in the “Contact Us” section below. Please note that you may continue to receive transactional or account-related communications from us. For example, if you are a Student, you may receive transactional messages related to confirmations, cancellations, and other updates about your Halp Chat purchases or account. If you are a Halper, you may receive transactional messages such as messages regarding your account and new Halp Chat requests and bookings.
Contests and Promotions: When you enter a contest or participate in a promotion, we may collect your name, address, phone number, email address, and other information you provide. We use this information to administer your participation in the contest or promotion.
Post-Halp Chat Surveys and Customer Research: After participating in a Halp Chat (e.g. between a Halper and a Student or another Halp user, such as a Student’s parent), we will ask you to complete a brief survey. Through this survey, we collect information such as general topics of discussion, your general satisfaction with the Halp Chat, and areas in which Halp can improve its services. From time to time, we may also offer you the opportunity to participate in other customer research. The information obtained through our surveys and customer research is used in an aggregated, non-personally identifiable form. We use this information to help us understand our users, and to enhance our product and service offerings, promotions and events. As is further outlined below, we may share this aggregated information with Halp users, universities, high schools, and investors.
Sharing Halper Stories/Testimonials/Blogs: With your permission, we may ask you for feedback regarding your Halp experience in order to share your story on our Website blog, social media platforms, or in advertisements. This story may include information such as your name, photo from your Halper profile (if applicable), and your university and program of study.
Employment: In connection with a job application or related inquiry, you may provide us with certain personal information about yourself (such as that contained in a resume, cover letter, or similar employment-related materials). We use this information for the purpose of processing and responding to your application for current and future career opportunities.
Contact Us: When you contact us with a comment, question or complaint through email, telephone, or the contact us form on our Website, you may be asked for information that identifies you, such as your name, email, or telephone number, along with additional information we need to help us promptly answer your question or respond to your comment.
